Apparently, someone hacked my Instagram account, which I have not used in over a year. That resulted in both my Instagram and Facebook accounts being suspended.
How did I find out about this? I logged into my Facebook account and it said Instagram suspended me. No email from them, except one, saying someone else logged into my account from a city I do not live in. And I did not even see that right away.
No notification about content that violates their terms of service. No notification that I was suspended either. The only email they sent was that someone logged into my account and they did not recognize it.
When I do log in, they falsely accuse me of posting content that violates their terms of service and that whatever was posted was an instant ban. I have no clue what was posted because they never told me.
You would think they would be smart enough to realize:
2. I have been a loyal member of their website for years now.
3. That posts made by a suspicious login might be from a hacker instead of the user.
Yet, they instantly ban me and tell me my account will be deleted, while making false accusations of violating their terms of service. How would they like to be accused of an offense that they did not commit?
They offer the ability to download your Facebook account, but the download does not include any of your posts.
They do have a way for you to appeal their decision on Instagram, but apparently, there is no way to actually tell them anything. They ask for your username and say they will review your account. You can't even tell them that you think your account was hacked.
This is an extremely disrespectful process.
